ePropulsion
PRE-ORDER OPEN NOW - ARRIVAL JUNE 2026
TheΒ ePropulsion Spirit 2 Remote is a 2kW electric outboard motor built for boaters who want clean, quiet power controlled from the helm β not by hand at the motor. If you're rigging a sailboat, a small console skiff, a tender, or any setup where a tiller handle doesn't make sense, this is the version you want.
This is the REMOTE version. It is designed for helm-based throttle and steering control using compatible remote control systems (sold separately). If you want to steer by hand directly at the motor, see our Spirit 2 Tiller version.
Available in Short Shaft and Long Shaft. Extra-short shaft is NOT available for the Remote version.
The remote version is the right choice when your setup calls for control away from the motor itself:
| Feature | Spirit 2 Remote | Spirit 2 Tiller |
|---|---|---|
| Control style | Helm / remote throttle | Hand steering at motor |
| Best for | Sailboats, console skiffs, tenders | Dinghies, jon boats, direct steering |

Choose Remote if: You want to control the motor from a helm, cockpit, or console β or if a tiller arm would be in the way of your setup.
Choose Tiller if: You want simple, direct hand-steering at the motor with no extra hardware.

Delivers consistent, reliable thrust for displacement hulls, sailboats, and light planing boats. Enough power for real-world use β not just spec-sheet numbers.
Need a burst of extra speed? Sport Mode pushes output up to 3kW for short-duration performance when conditions call for it.
The Spirit 2 Remote is designed to work with the ePropulsion Spirit Battery Ultra (1539Wh). The battery connects directly to the motor with a cable-free magnetic connection β no loose wires, no mess. Battery sold separately.
One of the Spirit 2's standout features: when you're sailing under wind power with the motor in the water, the propeller spins and generates electricity back into your battery. Free charging while you sail.
Need more range? The Spirit 2 Remote is compatible with ePropulsion's 48V E-Series external batteries, giving you the option to extend runtime significantly beyond the Spirit Battery Ultra alone.
The Spirit Battery Ultra connects to the motor without traditional cables β clean, fast, and reliable. No fumbling with connectors on the water.
Lightweight enough to carry to the dock, easy to mount and remove. Built for boaters who don't want a permanent, heavy engine taking up space.
Electric means near-silent running. Enjoy the water the way it's supposed to sound β without a gas engine drowning it out.
Actual speed and runtime vary by hull type, load, water conditions, and setup. The Spirit 2 Remote is best suited for displacement and semi-displacement hulls, sailboats, and light tenders. Heavier or wider hulls will see reduced range and speed compared to lighter, narrower boats.
As a general reference point, lighter boats in calm conditions will see the best runtime from the 1539Wh Spirit Battery Ultra. Adding an external 48V E-Series battery can significantly extend your range. We recommend contacting us to discuss your specific boat and use case before purchasing.

The Spirit 2 Remote is designed for remote throttle and helm-based control. Unlike the tiller version, it does not have a built-in tiller handle. You will need a compatible remote control system to operate this motor.

The Remote version is designed for helm-based or remote throttle control β you operate the motor from a control unit mounted at your helm or console, not by hand at the motor. The Tiller version has a built-in tiller handle for direct hand-steering at the motor. If you want to steer from a cockpit, helm, or console, choose Remote. If you want simple hand-steering at the motor, choose Tiller.
Yes β it's one of the best use cases for this motor. The remote control setup is ideal for sailboat cockpits, and the hydrogeneration feature lets you charge the battery while sailing under wind power. It's quiet, clean, and doesn't require a tiller arm in your cockpit.
No. The Spirit 2 Remote motor itself does not include a control handle. Compatible control options (such as the Evo Remote Control, Evo Side Mount Control, or Evo Dual Remote Control) are sold separately. Contact us and we'll help you choose the right one for your setup.
Measure your transom height from the top of the transom to the waterline. Short shaft fits 15.7β19.7 inches. Long shaft fits above 19.7 inches. The extra-short shaft is NOT available for the Remote version. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering.
Yes. The Spirit 2 Remote is compatible with ePropulsion's 48V E-Series external batteries in addition to the Spirit Battery Ultra. External batteries are sold separately and can significantly extend your runtime.
Yes. When the motor is in the water and your boat is moving under sail or current, the propeller spins and generates electricity back into your battery. It's a real feature β not just a marketing claim β and it's one of the reasons sailors love this motor.
Yes, it's a solid fit for small console skiffs and center consoles where you want to keep the helm clean and control the motor from the console rather than reaching back to a tiller. Just make sure your transom height matches the available shaft lengths (short or long).
Choose Remote if: you're rigging a sailboat, small console, or tender where helm-based control makes more sense than hand-steering at the motor; you want a cleaner cockpit or console layout; or your boat's design doesn't lend itself to a tiller arm. Choose Tiller if you want the simplest possible setup with no extra control hardware to buy or install.
