    OWNERS MANUAL:

    PERFORMANCE TEST:

It is imperative to accurately measure the transom mount height for an Epropulsion outboard. Having the wrong measurement for the shaft length can drastically affect the performance of the outboard. If the measurement taken is too short for the transom mount, the propeller will not sit deep enough in the water. When the propeller does not sit deep enough in the water it will cavitate and decrease efficiency. If the measurement taken is too long for the transom mount, the propeller will sit too deep into the water. When a propeller sits too low behind a boat, it will have increased water resistance and reduced speeds.

How to Find Your Shaft Length

If you are looking for an ePropulsion electric outboard for your boat, choosing the correct shaft length is important.

*NOTE* TAKACAT, Aircat, Bris and other Fully Inflatable Catamarans require the SHORT Shaft - due to shallow transom depth in the water.

Please note that ePropulsion has a different shaft length measurement from gas-powered outboards. For electric outboards, the shaft length is measured from the top of the clamp bracket to the center of the propeller. For gas outboards, it’s measured from the top of the clamp bracket to the anti-ventilation plate.

As you can see, our XS is close to S from Mercury. Our S is close to L from Mercury. Our L is longer than L from Mercury. See below.

To find the suitable shaft length, the principle is to make sure the top of the propeller is matched to the lowest point of the transom. In order to get the right shaft length, first, measure the transom height, the length from the top of the boat transom to the bottom of the boat.

After that, you could choose the recommended shaft length based according to the transom height.

For most small dinghies and aluminum boats under 15ft, extra short shaft and short will work, depending on the transom height, some over 15.7 inches, some not.

For boats with the transom height higher than 50 cm / 19.7 inches, a long shaft version is more suitable. For daysailers, sports boats and other sailing boats it’s best to measure the distance from the water line to the top of your outboard mount.

    Great little engine

Very happy with this engine. Easy to use, no maintenance, which is good for me as an occasional user. My fuel engines always got clogged up, glad that problem has disappeared. This little engine is just what I need for my Porta Bote.

    Epropulsion spirit 1.0 Plus

Hey all, just recently received the Epropulsion spirit 1.0 plus, I mounted on my Bote Rover Aero Verge Camo Micro Skiff. Mostly because of the portability the weight and not having to deal with traveling with a four-stroke outboard tiller living out of my Astro van. For my upcoming adventure. Heading to a few different Florida river's fly fishing and being able to access the many different springs. With the Spirit plus I also purchased the travel bags which are very well made and padded to protect the outboard and battery the battery bag doubles as a backpack this will come in very handy, as well as these items I have the 12 volt charger the AC charger and also the solar charger for days I'm just hanging around camp. Great quality products looking very forward to using them dealing with the crew at tiny boat Nation there are very informative very respectful and are very willing to meet your needs . Registering the Spirit plus for warranty purposes is very easy by going on e-propulsion.com going to the registry page you can take it from there again can't say enough for this outboard motor.

    Great Outboard Motor

I haven’t had a chance to use it in the water yet due to the weather. I did test everything on a stand and everything seems to be working properly. I will give an update after use on the water. I am very excited to use this and happy that my wife can use it too. She just couldn’t start our gas motor so I purchased this and it will be exactly what she can operate.
I highly recommend this and Tiny Boat Nation. Also I want to thank Nick Barr for always being quick, patient and answering my questions. Tiny Boat Nation is very blessed to have someone like Nick working for them. He was very helpful in my questions about the Auto Boat system too. Which I purchased and highly recommend too.

    Top Shelf

Purchased an E-Propulsion Spirit from TBN. Their videos really helped me understand my options for my dinghy. In addition, they delivered a real understanding around performance for the battery and the motor. I screwed up on the order (ordered a short shaft as opposed to an extra short shaft) - a quick call and all was resolved prior to shipping. Motor and battery arrived as promised.

    Works with a Pudgy

Despite it being December in Virginia, my wife and I were able to take our recently acquired Portland Pudgy out on the Lower Appomattox River a few days ago, when the temps got into the high 60's. We covered about 1-1/2 miles downstream in 18 minutes at half power. Everything worked really well. Coming back we were coming into an outgoing current and about a 10MPH headwind. At a little over half throttle we covered the distance in about 23 minutes. When we arrived back at our dock we still had over half power left in the battery. So we could have gone about seven miles on a single charge in these conditions at half to 3/4 throttle. I'll take that.

The motor is very quiet. There's no vibration and it handles well. I'm 75 and I was able to carry the motor and battery in two trips up a 50 foot rise from our dock to our basement. I'm quite happy with the purchase.
